Building inspections are required for any building or demolition permit that has been issued, or for any new business or a business moving to a new location.
Requesting an inspection
You must call the Building Division 24 hours before the inspection is required. The Fire Inspector may attend an inspection depending on the type of inspection.
You must provide the following information when booking an inspection:
- Address
- Contact person and phone number
- Type of inspection required

You or your agent or contractor.

For mould or plumbing issues, you can contact Public Health Inspections.
Who do I contact if the place I rent needs repairs and the landlord won't fix?
For repairs and maintenance issues, you can contact Bylaw Enforcement.
Who do I contact if I need an inspection for a building that is outside the city limits?
You will need to contact the administration office of the rural municipality, village or town that the building is located in.
Who do I contact if I have an issue with my landlord or tenant?
You will need to contact the Office of Residential Tenancies to find out your rights and responsibilities as a landlord or tenant.
