The Government of Saskatchewan proclaims May 8 to 12, 2023, as Economic Development Week in the province, celebrating business and industry's significant contributions to Saskatchewan's economy. Economic Development Week is recognized to highlight the value of economic development in the province and the role it plays in Saskatchewan's growth.
The City of Prince Albert proudly celebrates our region as an economically vibrant and liveable community. It is dedicated to creating and retaining jobs and increasing the standard of living for our community. To achieve this goal, the City of Prince Albert has welcomed Carolyn Carleton as Economic Development Manager and Trina Bell as the Tourism Coordinator.
"The Prince Albert Regional Economic Development Alliance (PAREDA) previously held these two positions. Bringing them into City Hall will provide accountability and enable us to have our thumb on the pulse of our community," says Craig Guidinger, Director of Planning and Development for the City of Prince Albert. "We are aiming to make Prince Albert a destination for families to live, work and play and adding these two positions is a strategic move towards that goal."
Carolyn Carleton brings a connection to local business, advanced knowledge of tourism and destination marketing and proudly calls Prince Albert home for 25 years. Carleton is looking forward to building on the foundation already begun by the dedicated staff at the City of Prince Albert. Prince Albert is naturally beautiful, offers an exceptional lifestyle, has a growing arts community and competitive sports network and is in an incredible phase of growth and development. Our connection to manufacturing, agribusiness, retail, and small and micro businesses proves there is room for everyone in our diverse business community.
The Tourism Centre gift shop has seen an increase in traffic due to the popularity of the PA#SK merchandise. The Centre is open and ready to welcome our local community and visitors to learn more about our region and to shop for gifts created by local artisans. Trina Bell's local roots and excitement for the sports community and event management is a valuable asset to the Tourism industry in Prince Albert. She is excited to keep local Prince Albert residents in the loop with all the fantastic events hosted in our City that support our organizations and businesses. And to share what our Beautiful City offers with the visitors that stop by the Centre. It is an exciting time for our City, and there is no better time to jump in and get involved.
Planning is already in the works for a Tourism Summit to be hosted in Prince Albert this fall; that will be a time of learning, sharing, and networking to connect Prince Albert and Northern Communities to work collaboratively to promote the tourism industry throughout Northern Saskatchewan.
Visit the Tourism office at 3700 2nd Ave. West, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours will be announced soon.
