A subdivision plan for another three parcels has been approved as part of the 80 acre development by locally owned Signature Development Corporation. “The Yard” District will include the City’s new Arena and Aquatic Recreation Centre. An update to City Council from Signature Developments will be considered at the upcoming February 28, 2022 Executive Committee meeting which shows progress plans for the area.
In the update Russell Clunie Jr., Developer and Partner with Signature Developments, details all the requirements and deliverables completed to date as well as an update on the progress of work in “The Yard District”. A summary of the work planned for 2022 and 2023 is also detailed as well as continued design and servicing updates for Phase 2.
“Sales and interest in the development are very strong,” said Russell Clunie Jr. “The build out for the development is looking very positive.”
The location for the recreation centre was selected in part because of its potential for future development and taxation revenue opportunities as complimentary businesses locate in the area to serve residents and visitors that attend for events and tournaments.
“New development was always part of the consideration when we selected this location,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “It’s exciting to see that lots have sold already and that our vision for an entertainment district is starting to take shape. The recreation centre combined with the commercial area will be a draw for visitors and anyone looking to book a tournament or plan a trip to Prince Albert.”
The next steps for the subdivision will be finalizing the roadway network and zoning for the area.
