Prince Albert, Sk. - The Rotary Club of Prince Albert is proud to present the City of Prince Albert with a cheque for its first instalment of $100,000 towards the Rotary Adventure Park. The Rotary Club is working with the City to bring the Rotary Adventure Park to the Little Red River Park. The design and development plans continue with the objective of construction in the spring of 2022.
The Rotary Club has committed over $500,000 to the project budget which is over $800,000. The City will supply the remainder of the funding. The Rotary Adventure Park will be focused on youth 8 to 14, offering a higher level of intensity and challenge than most other playgrounds in the city. Features will include a climbing center, parkour style circuit area, fitness area and elevated slides using the natural elevation available in the park. There also will be swings and a stand-up sand table, upgraded picnic sites, new picnic shelters and expanded walking trails so there is something for everyone from toddlers to seniors.
"The Rotary Adventure Park will be a great addition to Little Red River Park and our city," commented Mayor Greg Dionne. "We commend the Prince Albert Rotary Club for initiating this idea and providing a significant amount of funding. This will be another great community project and give the city another premier park facility."
The Rotary Club raised these funds through its community events over the past two years, including the Wine Premier, Valentine's Day Dinner, and Lobsterfest.
"The Rotary Club would like to thank all of the sponsors, participants, and volunteers of these events which has allowed us to make this contribution towards such an exciting project," stated Keith Fonstad, President of the Rotary Club of Prince Albert.
More funding announcements will be made throughout the summer.
