The Rotary Trail is more popular than ever since the 10 foot wide paved pathway was completed in 2019. The multi-use trial is increasingly home to a variety of activities including walking, cycling, roller skating, wheelchairs, skateboarding, jogging and more. To help users know what is expected, the City has prepared a list of 10 simple rules that everyone can follow to make the trail safe and enjoyable.
"As the popularity of the trail increased, we started getting more and more questions about what the etiquette rules are," said Mayor Greg Dionne. "This list will help make it clear what the basic expectations are when you are on the trail."
The Rotary Trail is available 12 months of the year and is cleared of snow during the winter.
"We want all our residents to enjoy the Rotary Trail to its full extent every season of the year", says Mayor Dionne. "As we head into our winter season, I encourage everyone to take a moment to learn the rules."
The 10 etiquette rules when using the trail:
- Always yield to pedestrians.
- Keep right and pass on the left!
- Keep your speed under control.
- Ring your bell when you are passing
- Wear a helmet.
- Make sure your brakes are working.
- Make sure you are visible, have reflectors on the front and back of your bike
- When you walk on the path, keep to the right.
- Do not block or crowd the path.
- Please keep your puppy leashed.
