The City of Prince Albert’s requirement to provide proof of vaccination or negative tests in civic facilities will end Monday, February 14, 2022. At a special City Council meeting held today, Prince Albert City Council voted to lift the policy as well as the requirement for masking in City facilities and public Transit at the same time as the Provincial Government’s Health Orders are lifted.
This decision follows the announcement from the Government of Saskatchewan this week that the Public Health Order “Proof of Coivd-19 Vaccination or Negative Test” will end Monday and the “Mandatory Masking Indoor Public Spaces” will end February 28, 2022.
“We are lifting the restrictions but we did it with hesitation. Our medical community has told us ‘not yet’ but we were not left with much of a choice. Pulling the health orders has put us in a difficult position,” said Mayor Greg Dionne.
“The vast majority of Prince Albert’s population is vaccinated. I’d like to thank you for doing your part. You have made Prince Albert safer.”
Restrictions will be lifted at all facilities where they have been previously implemented including the Prince Albert Public Library.
The Prince Albert Public Library Board has followed City of Prince Albert policies throughout the pandemic to present consistent conditions of entry to the public at all city facilities. Prince Albert Public Library locations will change conditions of entry to the library in coordination with other city facilities.
The proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test will also be lifted for City of Prince Albert employees effective Monday, February 14, 2022.
