Prince Albert, SK - Due to the continual rising waters of the Spruce River, the entrances to the central core area of Little Red River will be closed to the public until further notice beginning Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10pm. The Pine Grove Entrance Gate to the West and Main entrance off Highway 55 to Little Red River Park is closed
The Water Security Agency (WSA) has indicated that current water levels at Anglin Lake are 9” above safe levels and to protect the integrity of the dam they are required to complete a draw-down of the water.
The Park is anticipating bank flow and flooding possibilities due to the increased outflow over the next couple of days. WSA is predicting outflow approaching what was observed in 2013. As a precaution and to ensure the safety of our guests and users of the park the City finds it necessary to restrict all access to the public until the threat has subsided and it is considered safe to allow the public back into the space.
Access will still be available to Little Red River Park through the North Parking Lot in the West and the upper flats to the East off highway 55.
The city is asking the public to stay clear of the area ensuring entrances remain clear allowing for City crews, Emergency Services and any and all resources to gain access if required during this time.
The situation will be monitored daily and updates will be provided as they become available.
