Her Excellency, the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, has requested that the people of Canada set aside September 19, 2022, as the day on which they honour the memory of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, who passed away on September 8, 2022.
In response to the request, the City of Prince Albert will be recognizing the Queen’s passing in the following manner:
- Flags on all municipal buildings have been lowered to half-mast until sunset on the day of the memorial service of Her Majesty the Queen, on September 19, 2022.
- Portraits of Her Majesty The Queen will remain on display until the day after the funeral.
- A book for messages of condolences is now available for residents to sign at City Hall (1084 Central Avenue) during office hours. The book will be available until sunset on September 19, 2022.
The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed Monday, September 19, as a day in tribute and commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II. While September 19 is being proclaimed to honour Queen Elizabeth II, it has not been designated as a provincial public statutory holiday.
