Prince Albert, Sk. - The City of Prince Albert is pleased to announce that the AC Howard Park and re-developed playground has re-opened to the public in the Crescent Acres area of the city. The playground was upgraded through the City's Playground Replacement Program which addresses needed upgrades throughout the city.
The Parks Department worked with residents in the area to understand the use and needs for a re-developed playground area through a survey. From the results the playground was developed and is now complete. The play area is unique as it includes many features not found at any other playground in the city.
The Playground Replacement Program provided $100,000 for the upgrade with an additional $30,000 added to the project from other areas to ensure AC Howard Park is a fun, safe place to play. Construction took just over a month, beginning in mid-June with the protective fencing coming down late last week.
The new features at AC Howard Park include: oodle swing (inclusive), belt bridge with railing, seeker climber, vine net climber, lolli ladder, pod climbers, double slide, alpine slide, half climber, wrinkle climber, tri-sail, turtle sand table, super scoop, stand-up spinner and leaf spinner. The park previously featured swings, which have remained.
In addition there are three round picnic tables, two slate back and seat style benches, additional garbage and recycling containers and new park lighting will be installed in August.
