Prince Albert, SK – Taylor Berge has been awarded the 2023 City of Prince Albert Lifeguard Scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $ 2,000. This scholarship has been created to highlight and recognize the achievements of lifeguards both inside and outside the workplace.
Taylor has been a lifeguard with the City of Prince Albert since 2018 and has worked in various positions at the Kinsmen Water Park and the Frank J. Dunn Pool. Taylor has been accepted to attend Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota to become a chiropractor. Children may recognize her from school, where she worked as a Swim to Survive instructor at Carlton Comprehensive Public High School or while volunteering in classrooms teaching water safety.
“My skill set and gratitude to the aquatics program with the City of Prince Albert will always be something I cherish and have shaped me into the educated young woman I am today as I prepare to enter the healthcare workforce,” says Taylor
“Taylor is a great candidate to kick off the lifeguard scholarship. She has shown amazing dedication to the lifeguard team and has been a champion of water safety both in and outside the workplace. Not only that but she’s managed to do all this while attaining great high school and university grades,” says Lauren Haubrich, Recreation Coordinator for Aquatics. “The other applicants were also impressive – it shows how strong the City of Prince Albert lifeguard team is.”
A special ceremony will be held at the Kinsmen Water Park at a later date.
