Over the past several months, the City of Prince Albert has been working on redesigning its website, www.citypa.ca. Content for the site has been completely reorganized and rewritten for the web, has a modern and vibrant design with lots of great local pictures and a number of enhanced features that make it easier for users to find what they are looking for.
“We went into this with high expectations about what we wanted to achieve,” said Kiley Bear, Communications Manager for the City of Prince Albert. “We wanted a website that presents a strong image of our community and one that serves residents well and I think we’ve achieved that.”
Some of the new features of the site include:
- A new Calendar of Events which includes a new subscribe feature so the public can get a weekly email of upcoming events, accounts for submitting a community event, and advanced search.
- A Parks and Facilities searchable database with mapping so that you can easily find the City’s neighbourhood parks, sports fields and other amenities.
- New microsite pages for the Prince Albert Airport, Fire and Transit
- A new landing page for the City’s engagement activities
- An Available lands searchable data base of the City’s land for sale
- A mobile friendly design that makes it compatible with smartphones and tablets – text and images smoothly transition to the ideal size for your device
- Easy navigation – the menus were reorganized with input from the community and the search function has been improved so it’s easier to find what you are looking for.
“The new site gives us a strong foundation to work from for future digital enhancements as new needs arise and as we expand on existing content,” said Bear. “As administrators of the site, we have so much flexibility with how we present information and there is a lot of support for developing new functionality. I’m looking forward to seeing what else we can do with the site.”
Residents are encouraged to take a look around the new site and provide feedback about anything that needs to be corrected or improved using the website feedback button available in the footer of each webpage.
