A tentative agreement was reached between the City of Prince Albert and CUPE Local 882 on September 26. The membership voted to reject the agreement on Tuesday, October 17 and have once again requested the assistance of conciliator Kristin Anderson, Executive Director of Labour Relations.
"The mandate of the City of Prince Albert has not changed. We cannot consider a proposal that comes at more cost to the taxpayer," said Kiley Bear, Director of Corporate Services. "Following the vote last night, we are considering our next steps. In the meantime we invite the union to submit a new proposal for our review."
Behaviour on the Picket Line
CUPE picketers continue to engage in disruptive behaviour and intimidation tactics directed at members of the public and City Management, particularly at the EA Rawlinson Centre and City Hall. Picketers are blocking vehicles from entering parking lots, blowing horns in the faces of seniors, posting derogatory signs and disturbing downtown businesses and customers by playing loud music and blowing horns non-stop.
