A Special City Council Meeting was held at 6:30pm today to declare a local State of Emergency in accordance with Section 20 of the Emergency Planning Act. The area located directly adjacent to the northeastern City boundaries is at risk of spreading that requires prompt action to prevent harm or damage to the safety, health and welfare of persons located within the boundaries of the City of Prince Albert, and to prevent damage to property within those boundaries.
An order to evacuate has been issued due to the wildfire that is threatening the residents. The wildfire is fast moving and individuals that reside and work North of highway 55, East of Cloverdale Road and West of the Honeymoon Road must start evacuation immediately.
It was originally reported that evacuees could go to the Art Hauser Centre. The City would like to confirm that those that evacuate can go to the Margo Fournier Centre, 1211 1st Ave West where they will be asked to register and receive further instruction. Signs have been put up at the Art Hauser to redirect anyone that arrives at that location. Staff are scheduled to be onsite at Margo Fournier Centre until 9:00pm.
