With many residents getting outdoors to use the City’s parks and trials, the City of Prince Albert would like to remind users of an etiquette rule while using the Rotary Trail.
“One of the biggest complaints we are hearing about right now is passing etiquette, particularly for those that are on bikes, roller blades or skateboards,” said Mayor Greg Dionne.
The general rule on walking trails is keep to the right and pass on the left. If approaching on a bike, alert walkers with a bell or if skateboarding or inline skating, use a simple call “coming by you”. This measure can go a long way in ensuring that walkers are not startled and do no unintentionally step out.
“Users on wheels can often travel silently and they are taking some walkers on the trail off guard,” added Dionne. “A simple alert can go a long way so we are asking users to consider this small gesture.”
The City of Prince Albert will be preparing a comprehensive list of Rotary Trail rules which will be posted along the trail. In the meantime, consideration of this simple rule is appreciated.
