Prince Albert Community Clean-up: May 6-11, 2024

It’s that time of year again for groups, organizations, businesses, friends and neighbours to start thinking about getting together to clean up Prince Albert and participate in the annual litter pick-up Pitch-In Week. The 2024 Pitch-In campaign has been set for Monday, May 6, to Saturday, May 11, 2024. You can read more about the Pitch-In movement here: https://www.facebook.com/pitchincanada

Prince Albert Community Clean-up Events - #PAspringclean24

Community clean-up events are planned at three locations. Residents are encouraged to bring items to any of the locations during the week to help clean up their neighbourhoods. Show us how you are participating in this year's clean-up by using the hashtag #PAspringclean24 on social media!

Locations:

• South: Kinsmen Water Park Parking Lot – 1st Ave West and 28th Street
• East: Corner of 6th Avenue East and 10 Street East
• West: St. Michael Parish – 1505 13 Street West

The list of acceptable items:

• Household Garbage,
• Electronics,
• Metal,
• Appliances,
• Grass and Leaves 
• Recyclables

NOT acceptable at the locations:

• Tires (Please see tire recyclable options below)
• Hazardous Household Waste

Call for Volunteers:

We are looking for volunteers to help make it a success! Appliance Pick-Up Service

The Optimist Club of Prince Albert is a valuable partner with us this year. They offer convenient curbside appliance pick-up for just $20.00 per appliance. Additional charges may apply if the appliance requires removal from inside the house, depending on its size and location. The Schedule for May 6-11 will be as follows:

• Monday: 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
• Wednesday: 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
• Saturday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Downtown Pitch-in on Tuesday May 7, 2024

On Tuesday, May 7th, Prince Albert Downtown BID will organize a pitch-in initiative for Downtown. Volunteers will meet in front of City Hall at 9 a.m. and organize into various groups.  

Tires:

Tires are not accepted at the community clean-up locations. We have two locations in Prince Albert where up to 10 tires per resident can all be dropped off for free during business hours, provided there is room available. Tires must be rimless.

The locations where tires can be dropped off are:

• Kal Tire – 300- 38th St E (306-763-8426)
• OK Tire & Auto Repair Service – 1610 1st Ave W (306-763-4999)

For more information on tire recycling, please visit the Tire Stewardship of Saskatchewan website at https://www.tssk.ca/ . Tires can also be brought to the landfill (for a fee).

Further details are available at http://citypa.ca/pitch-in, including information regarding safe needle pick-up. The Saskatchewan Health Authority is responsible for the regional needle exchange program, "Straight to the Point Harm Reduction." The program provides education, awareness, guidance and supplies for safe needle clean-up. If you find a needle, you can contact Access Place to pick it up. They can be reached by calling (306) 765-6533.
