Mayor Greg Dionne joined City Manager Jim Toye today to announce his retirement from the City Manager position effective March 31, 2022 after an 8-year career with the City of Prince Albert and nearly 40 years in the municipal sector. Jim has over 33 years of service as a City Manager and has held senior management positions in North Battleford, Kindersley, Leader and Unity, all in Saskatchewan.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work that has been achieved these past 8 years with Jim at the helm. In Jim’s time with the City he has secured over $150 million in federal and provincial funding for City projects,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. “Jim leaves behind a team of ambitious, talented and dedicated employees that have rose to the challenge of improving operations, doing more with less and achieving great things for this City.”
“I’ve had a long municipal career working in five different cities. I have surrounded myself with great people and that is the secret to success,” said Toye. “Prince Albert has been good to me and I am grateful for the opportunity have served these past several years.”
“My entire career as a Mayor has been with Jim by my side as City Manager. We’ve handled a number of emergency responses in our time together including the Cloverdale Fire last year and the Covid-19 pandemic most recently but one of the stand-out projects we faced together was the 2016 oil spill. It required swift action to ensure potable water was supplied to Prince Albert residents during the 55-day clean up,” added Mayor Greg Dionne. “It has been a productive and eventful eight years with Jim. He will be missed, but I wish him all the best in retirement.”
Jim will be joining his wife Colleen in retirement this year in Blackstrap Lake, Sask where they will be closer to their children and grandchildren.
The search for a new City Manager for Prince Albert is ongoing.
