Now that the snow has melted, pothole repair operations are underway across Prince Albert. Crews have begun filling potholes as of mid-spring, focusing first on high-priority areas including major arterial roads, school zones, bus routes, and the Central Avenue business district. Residential streets will follow.
Potholes form when moisture from snowmelt or rain seeps into pavement cracks. When the moisture freezes and expands, it causes the asphalt to break apart. Traffic then worsens the damage, increasing the pothole’s size.
Pothole repair requires dry conditions to be effective. Repairs are being done using the City’s established priority system—similar to snow removal—to ensure safe and efficient travel throughout the community.
