This weekend, six new banners were added on the east and west sides of the southern entrance to the City along 2nd Avenue. These bright and artistic banners will beautify our major corridor.
“These banners exemplify just some of the broad range of artistic talent in our City. Each design celebrates a unique and important part of our City – from our riverbank and natural surroundings to our diversity,” said Judy MacLeod Campbell, Arts & Cultural Coordinator. “The new banners add vibrancy, beauty, and a sense of place.”
Designs were submitted by local artists and selected by a panel of local community members. Three artists, Ailah Carpenter, Colby Lavigne, and Kayanna Wirtz, were chosen. The banners are made of steel, and were powder coated to last much longer than the typical vinyl banner.
This project was an initiative of The City of Prince Albert Municipal Cultural Action Plan (MCAP) with assistance from the Public Art Working Group and Community Building Youth Futures – Prince Albert.
