The City of Prince Albert, through the Municipal Cultural Action Plan, revealed a new, collaborative mural on the Prince Albert Public Library’s exterior west wall on Monday, October 7, 2024. The mural results from this past summer’s call for local photography submissions. The selected photos were collaged together in the final design by lead artists Alex Powalinksy and Lisa Halsall of All My Relations Creative Connections.
Connections in Focus: A Mural of Pride is a collage of local photographs that emphasizes the strong connections that unite our Indigenous roots, the diversity of our community, and our relationships with the land.
“This land has served as a space where peoples have come together for generations to connect, share, and create. Our mural stands as a testament to this history, encouraging us to reflect on our joint strengths, acknowledge the importance of relationships, and reimagine how we see ourselves, our community, and our future,” say lead artists, Alex Powalinsky and Lisa Halsall.
"One of the goals of this project was to visualize what pride in Prince Albert looks like. The final mural accomplishes this and radiates positivity—you can’t help but smile when you look at it. Alex and Lisa have been such a pleasure to work with and did a fantastic job leading this project and bringing it to life,” says Tia Furstenberg, Arts & Culture Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert.
The creation of this mural is supported by the City of Prince Albert - Municipal Cultural Action Plan and Sask Culture, funded by the Sask Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture, and Recreation.
