Councillor Ted Zurakowski announced his City Council resignation on Wednesday, saying that he has been awarded a professional opportunity with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation starting on February 1, 2023, in Saskatoon. Cllr. Zurakowski, elected in 2006, served Ward 8 on City Council for almost two decades.
“Representing the citizens of West Hill and Prince Albert for nearly 18 years has been my pleasure, and I thank you for your support. Together we have accomplished many worthwhile projects. I am also thankful to my wife Jamie, and my children Samantha and Ben, for their support and sacrifices since 2006,” says Cllr. Zurakowski.
Among the many positive initiatives that Councillor Zurakowski accomplished during his longstanding career as a City Councillor are:
- The West Hill Flood Protection Program,
- Rotary Trail creation and completion,
- West Hill Master Plan for future residential development,
- West Hill Marquis Road bypass,
- Cornerstone Commercial Development,
- West Hill Community Splash Park and construction of other playgrounds and splash parks throughout the City,
- Alfred Jenkins Field House development,
- West Hill Neighbourhood Watch Program,
- Residential Pavement program to revitalize our streets,
- The new Yard Development, including the new Aquatics and Arenas Recreation centre and Commercial District.
"The residents of Prince Albert have benefited greatly from Ted's dedication and commitment as a Councillor since 2006. We will remember him for his insights and for asking the important questions. Ted was a highly involved councillor, and he will be greatly missed. He assisted in moving many positive projects forward in our community and should be proud of the legacy projects he is leaving behind. We want to thank him for his service and wish him the best on the new career opportunity," says Mayor Greg Dionne
