Calling all artists and designers! The City of Prince Albert and Tourism Prince Albert are launching a shirt/merchandise design contest. The committee seeks a design that sparks pride, showcasing Prince Albert's strengths as "Saskatchewan's Playground" and "Heartbeat of the North." Four designs will be chosen and put up for a social media vote to select a favourite. The winner will receive $1000 and the three runners-up $500 each.
A similar contest was held in 2018, with only one artist, Gabrielle Giroux from Encore Graphics, commissioned to create various designs, and the public voted for the winning graphic. This PASK design is a favourite to wear on T-Shirts and hoodies and is seen all over the City.
"We brought Tourism under the City administration and wanted to create excitement for new merchandise to showcase in our Visitor’s Centre. We hope to get designers and artists from all walks of life and our youth involved with this contest," says Carolyn Carleton, Economic Development Manager with the City of Prince Albert.
"We have the most park space per capita, a thriving arts community, and an active sports City. We have amazing volunteers and neighbours. This is why we call P.A. home. We are looking for a new design for shirts and other merchandise that answers the call to increase pride in our City," says Judy MacLeod Campbell, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert.
The contest opens today, June 1, 2023, and closes Monday, July 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
The top four designs will be chosen by the selection panel on Thursday, July 21, 2023, and those designs will be put to a social media poll on July 27, 2023.
