Rotary Club makes Final Payment towards the Rotary Adventure Park
Prince Albert, Sk. – In 2020 the Rotary Club of Prince Albert entered into a partnership with the City of Prince Albert to bring the Rotary Adventure Park to the Little Red River Park. As final stages of construction continue with the objective of completion by the end of July 2023, the Rotary Club is proud to present the City with a cheque for its final instalment of $100,000 towards the Adventure Park.
The Rotary Club committed to providing $200,000 of funds from its fundraising events including the Lobsterfest and Wine Premier and online raffles. In June of 2021 they presented the City with the first installment of $100,000. This Wednesday, June 14 at 2pm at Memorial Square, City Hall they will present the Mayor with the second and final instalment to complete their commitment.
The Rotary Club also facilitated funds for the $1,200,000 project by sourcing sponsorships, donations, and grants in partnership with the City and are pleased to announce the project is fully funded.
The Rotary Adventure Park will be focused on youth 8 to 14, offering a higher level of “intensity” and challenge than most other playgrounds in the city. Features include a climbing center, challenge area, elevated slides and over 400 feet of zip lines. There also will be a youth activity area with swings, upgraded picnic sites, new picnic shelter and expanded walking trails so there is something for everyone from toddlers to seniors.
“The Rotary Adventure Park is a great addition to Little Red River Park and our city,” commented Mayor Greg Dionne. “We commend the Prince Albert Rotary Club for initiating this idea and providing a significant amount of funding. This is another great community project and gives the city another premier park facility.”
In a statement from the Rotary Club, they expressed their gratitude to all of the participants and sponsors of their fundraising events over the last four years as well as the Rotary Adventure Park sponsors and donors. “Without the support of the community, we would not have been able to see this amazing park built. We have a significant number of major sponsors who support our Club events and projects who are cornerstones of our business community and we are amazed how they continue to step-up and support not only the Rotary Club projects, but so many others” commented Keith Fonstad, Chair of the Centennial Project for the Rotary Club of Prince Albert.
An announcement for a grand opening of the park will be made later this summer.
