Prince Albert, SK – The City of Prince Albert is launching the Play It Forward Campaign, a community-driven initiative to raise funds for our new Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre. This state-of-the-art facility, opening in Spring 2025, will be a cornerstone of recreation for Prince Albert and the region it serves.
The Play It Forward Campaign has set a fundraising goal of $20 million and is already halfway there, thanks to a generous $10 million donation from Lake Country Co-op. This campaign invites the entire community to get involved and take pride in supporting the new facility. Every contribution, whether $20 or $2,000, brings us closer to reaching the $20 million target.
“This isn’t just a building; it’s a legacy,” said Mayor Bill Powalinsky. “The Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre will unite and inspire us, creating a space where future generations can thrive. By donating to the Play It Forward Campaign, you can own a piece of it and leave your mark on the future of Prince Albert.”
“Lake Country Co-op is honoured to play a leading role in this initiative,” said Tim Keller, Chief Executive Officer for Lake Country Co-op. “We’re inviting businesses and individuals alike to join us in building a space that belongs to all of us. By donating, you’re helping fund a facility that will create a legacy of community, connection, and enjoyment.”
“This project is a true testament to the power of collaboration. From city leaders, local businesses and community members to generous donors like Lake Country Co-op, everyone should be proud of the part they have played in shaping what this facility will become,” said Ralph Boychuk on behalf of the Volunteer Campaign Planning Committee. “While we celebrate this major milestone, there is still work to be done. We invite everyone to continue to spread the word, get involved, and help us bring this vision to life."
The Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre will be a home for all types of play—from cheering on competitive hockey games to splashing in the wave pool to competing in the lane pool. This centre is designed for old and young and will add value to our City and community. Learn more about the new Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre by visiting the city's website.
