Happy Spring! After a long, dark winter, it's finally time to embrace the warmer weather and longer days. The start of spring brings with it a sense of renewal and hope, and we're excited to welcome this new season with open arms.
In this month's P.A. Pulse, we'll be highlighting some of the events and activities that are happening around our community, as well as sharing important updates and information. There's something for everyone to enjoy as we move into this exciting time of year.

We have lots of options at your Arts Centre in April. Join a new program like “Weaving a Scarf for Easter”, Pottery Party, and Easter Break Camps for children/youth. Morning Easter Art Camp: Animal Portraits & Sculptures (Ages 7 - 12)! In this 4-day art camp, students will explore various materials and create various animal-themed projects.

E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts

A fictitious male stripper troupe (played by a cast of some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians) performs a sexylarious improv comedy show. They try to be sexy… it just comes out funny. Constantly grooving and gyrating in between scenes they banter with the crowd and perform their hilarious twist on improv sketches. They sing, they “dance”, and they are ready to make you laugh. Semi undressed and completely unscripted, The Comic Strippers take off their shirts and take on your suggestions to create a whole new genre of comedy.

Prairie Interlace: Textiles, Modernism, and the Expanded Frame
Co-curated by Michele Hardy and Timothy Long and Julia Krueger

This major touring exhibition focuses on Prairie textiles made between 1960-2000. Produced by Nickle Galleries, University of Calgary and the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Prairie Interlace historically situates and elucidates the unique contributions of Prairie fibre artists. The exhibition includes works in the Mann Art Gallery Permanent Collection.

Ray of Light examines the identity of JingLu Zhao's family as they explore the world. Zhao creates acrylic and oil paintings, combining figuration and landscapes reflecting her children's Chinese and First Nations heritage.

We will be hopping around the Historical Museum on a Scavenger Hunt and cracking jokes with our Easter Cootee Catchers. Regular hours are Monday to Friday 9-4 and Saturdays 10-4. Regular admission applies. Adults (ages 12 and over) $5, Student (6 to 11) $2, Child (under 6) free, Family (2 adults and up to 4 children) $12.

The award is for city residents under the age of 21, recognizing good citizenship including exceptional service to school, social, athletic, civic or church institutions. Consideration will be given to those who have shown perseverance and determination, whether of a public or personal nature.
Nomination forms are available at the Community Services Department Office 3rd Floor at City Hall on the city’s website.
Deadline for applying is Friday, June 23rd, 2023 at 5:00 p.m

Sports on Central
The Sports on Central event is a way to encourage kids and families to get back to being active and having fun. Sports clubs, food trucks, music, all in the Prince Albert Downtown on April 29th from 12 - 6pm.
Come downtown for free giveaways, shoot some hoops, catch a football thrown by Saskatchewan Roughrider Derek Moncrief, and watch as the Prince Albert Police Service battles against the Prince Albert Fire Department in a game of Street Hockey!
As a way to get equipment into the hands of our youth, nearly every piece of sports equipment will be given away throughout the day or raffled off at the end.
From Basketballs, Footballs, and Hockey Pucks, all the way up to Hockey nets, goalie equipment, and stand alone basketball nets, it's all up for grabs. To find out more go to: Sports on Central

The Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame will grow by eight inductees at their 31st Induction Banquet on Saturday, May 6th.
Their Board of Directors nomination committee have recommended and the board approved the following: Erica Gavel (athlete), Jessica Vance (athlete), Rod Dallman (athlete & builder), Rick Schultz (athlete & builder), Pete Friesen (builder), Jim Nicholson (builder), Bill Yeaman (builder) and The 1973 East End & 1975 Old Dutch Twins (team). Prince Albert Minor Baseball Association will be recognized as the Sports Organization of the Year.
The banquet will be held in the Ches Leach Lounge, adjacent to the PA Sports Hall of Fame on May 6th beginning at 6:00 PM.

The 2023 Esso Cup will be contested April 23-29 at the Art Hauser Centre. Hockey Canada’s U18 Female AAA Hockey Championship tournament will feature 5 Regional Champions and our own Prince Albert Northern Bears!
Volunteers are required to put on this event from ticket takers to team hosts to volunteer services (lounge workers) and many more positions!
Ticket Packages are available for just $65 which gets you tickets to all 19 games during the week.
The Gold Medal Game will be broadcast live on TSN Saturday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m.
This is another major national sports event in our city and we invite you to come out and enjoy the best Female U18 AAA hockey in Canada April 23-29.
