City crews will be starting full street sweeping operations on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 with crews starting on high traffic arterial streets. Street sweeping crews have been out already in targeted areas in the last week where conditions allowed for it.
“Freezing temperatures cause ice buildup in the gutters which prevents a thorough cleaning,” said Geoff Soderberg, Roadways Manager for the City. “Sweeping can only take place when the temperatures are consistently above zero.”
Street sweeping operations follow a priority order with arterial streets first followed by collector streets and residential areas. The City would like to remind motorists to keep a safe distance from street sweeping equipment, as visibility will be reduced by dust and flying debris.
Further information on the order of residential street sweeping will be released when available.
