Prince Albert, SK - Geneva Tait has been awarded the 2024 City of Prince Albert Lifeguard Scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $2,000. Created in 2023, the scholarship was created to celebrate and highlight the achievements of lifeguards both inside and outside the workplace.
Geneva has been a lifeguard with the City of Prince Albert since 2021. Not only has Geneva worked in various positions at the Kinsmen Water Park and FJD Pool, but she has shared her skill as a swimming instructor at both Emma and Christopher Lakes. Geneva has been attending Minot State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communications Sciences and Disorders. While in Minot, Geneva continues to share her knowledge of learning to swim – while volunteering her time teaching children at the local pool!
“The support from the City of Prince Albert’s Aquatics Department will allow me to pursue my passion and continue to grow both in and out of the pool,” Geneva shared.
“Geneva has always demonstrated an enthusiasm for learning to swim and drowning prevention. Her commitment to water safety shines through in all her roles with the City of Prince Albert – and she is a leader at volunteering ideas and helping the organization grow,” says Lauren Haubrich, Recreation Coordinator for Aquatics. “The lifeguard team is made up of remarkable individuals and that is demonstrated through the excellent scholarship applicants this year.”
A special ceremony will be held at the Kinsmen Water Park at a later date.
