
Culture Days has become the largest cultural event in Canada, attracting an estimated 2 million annual attendees to thousands of free activities and performances hosted by artists, cultural organizations and municipalities in 355 communities across Canada.The City of Prince Albert invites you to the 2024 Culture Days with our theme Heartbeat of the North!
There are more than twenty FREE events and opportunities being offered over the three-week national celebration from September 20 to October 13, 2024. A complete schedule of all the free events is available on the Prince Albert Culture Days Hub Page.
Here are a few free event highlights:
- Dakota History: Walk & Talk with Dr. Leo J. Omani, hosted at the Historical Museum and Little Red River Park from 10am — 12pm on Sept. 21. Registration is required, please phone (306) 764-2992.
- Story Book Walk at the Gateway Mall from 12pm — 3pm on Sept. 21. Bring the family for interactive displays and educational activities!
- Finding our Common Stories: a Cross-Cultural Community Artwork on Sept. 22 from 1pm — 4pm hosted at the Margo Fournier Arts Centre. Bring the family for an afternoon of creating with paint, beads, fabric and more with artist Harmony Johnson-Harder.
- Tapestrama Cultural Festival on Sept. 28 & 29 from 12pm — 7pm each day, hosted by the Prince Albert Multicultural Council and held at Carlton Comprehensive High School. Tapestrama is a perfect example of the diversity, culture, and talent in our city and includes some amazing food booths.
- Free admission to the Prince Albert Historical Museum on Sept. 30 from 9am — 4pm.
- Rob Froese Artist Talk at the Mann Art Gallery on Oct. 2 from 6:30pm— 8:30pm.
- The Sights, Sounds, and Tastes of Africa on Oct. 10 from 6pm —8pm and hosted by the YWCA Wesley. Experience African culture, food, and music!
- There are many art programs at the Margo Fournier Arts Centre including Journaling for Caring Hearts, Youth Open Studio, Youth Fall Pottery, and Print and Paint Your Own Culture Days Swag. Please note these programs are free but require pre-registration at www.citypa/register.
“The City of Prince Albert is thriving with arts & culture opportunities, and we recognize their value for our enjoyment, mental health, and connection to the community,” says Tia Furstenberg, Arts and Cultural Coordinator for the City. “Of the many arts and culture opportunities that organizations and artists provide all year long for our community, Culture Days allows us to offer some free to try.”
There will also be FREE public transit for Culture Days on Friday September 21 and Saturday September 22.
