Prince Albert, Sk. – The City of Prince Albert, in conjunction with the volunteer-operated Community Clubs, is pleased to announce the addition of free skating times, following all the recommendations from the Saskatchewan Health Authority for safety. The four Community Clubs that have indoor natural-ice surfaces, Crescent Heights, East End, East Hill and West Hill will rotate days. As well outdoor rinks at Crescent Acres, Crescent Heights, Carlton Park, East Hill, Hazeldell, Midtown and Nordale are open daily.
“We are pleased that our volunteer-operated Community Clubs have agreed to open up indoors for skating as well as outdoor rinks over the holiday season,” commented Jody Boulet, Director of Community Services. “Please adhere to all of the regulations, stay safe and enjoy some exercise!”
The SHA rules for public skating are:
- Walk-ups or drop-ins accepted. First 30 people will get in.
- A maximum of 30 skaters will be allowed on the ice.
- Participants should arrive no more than fifteen (15) minutes before the ice-time
- When waiting to enter the Arena, make sure to remain a minimum of 6ft from the next person.
- For all participants (no spectators allowed) – a non-medical mask that covers the mouth and nose is mandatory upon arrival, participating and departure from the facility. All participants entering the facility must wear the mask at all times – even on the ice.
- Helmets are required on ice.
- Upon entrance, a Skating Attendance sheet will be set up and all participants are to check in with the Rink Attendant to record your attendance. The Community Club will collect and keep attendance records for a minimum of one month.
- Upon entrance, Hand Sanitizer will be located at the Attendance table for all to sanitize their hands.
- Participants can use the benches as set out by each Club for Changing Skates.
- While skating on ice surface, social distance from other skaters a minimum of 6ft.
- All participants are to bring their own water bottle filled at home and hand sanitizer. The lobby water fountain is out of order.
- All garbage is to be placed in containers around facility, not left on floor. Please assist with maintaining a clean facility.
- Do not touch board glass.
- No spitting, chewing tobacco, food, etc. permitted in the facility.

Through consultation with SHA, there are capacity issues at East End and West Hill Community Clubs where there are shared spaces between indoor and outdoor rinks. The priority is for the indoor space, as a result the outdoor ice at East End and West Hill is not available at this time.
