Donna Langhorne: Common Truths
December 1 to January 23
Because the lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples under colonial dominance represent a set of Common Truths, this project looks to another shared manifestation within Indigenous cultures to confront them: the organization of social structure and roles as represented by the clan system and the totems.
References drawn from the TRC, the media, and/or the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, are included for each of the 20 Common Truths.
The Historical Museum is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other museum tours can be arranged by appointment. Call 306-764-2992. Check out our gift shop for those Christmas gifts! The P.A. Historical Society gives a big welcome to their new Programs & Outreach Coordinator Jeri McKelvie.

Cory Chad - Emanating
Curated by Jesse Campbell
November 17, 2022 – January 14, 2023
Embracing exploration in an open-ended process of application, erasure, and response is the foundation of Cory Chad’s work. This exhibition of her recent paintings, drawings, and ceramics does not seek to define subjects or content with precision; rather, these works suggest ideas of change, the passage of time, and life around objects in domestic spaces. What emanates in clay, canvas, and paper on any given day comes from the events – whether mundane or major – of an hour, a week, a year, a lifetime, as they accumulate and unconsciously are recorded in their creation.
Ways of Living, Ways of Painting: La Ronge and La Loche
The paintings of Myles Hector Charles and Mary Joyce
Curated by Marcus Miller
November 17, 2022 – January 14, 2023
This exhibition brings together two very different artists, both painting life in northern communities in Saskatchewan. In 1990, Mary Joyce (Edmonton) had the opportunity to live in La Loche for a year where she met people, made friends and painted scenes of work, play and social gatherings. Elder Myles Charles was born in Fox Point on Lac la Ronge, and is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band # 353. Myles attended both the La Ronge and Prince Albert Indian Residential Schools.
