The City of Prince Albert Public Works Department will start work on the underground utility and roadwork project on Central Avenue, from 22nd Street to 27th Street on June 8, 2024. This significant infrastructure project will enhance the reliability of our water system, improve stormwater management, and provide a smoother driving experience for residents. The work is expected to last 8 weeks, weather permitting.
Scope of Work:
- Replacement of the cast iron water main
- Installation of a new storm sewer
- Construction of new concrete curbs
- Repaving of the roadway
Project Timeline: Start Date: June 8, 2024. End Date: August 9, 2024 (weather permitting)
Key Dates:
- Roadway Milling: Saturday, June 8, 2024
- Underground Construction Commences: Monday, June 10, 2024
Impact on Residents:
The work will take place in stages in the orange zone. No water service interruptions are expected. However, should any interruptions be necessary, Drinking Water Advisories will be issued promptly. There will be periods during construction when local traffic will not be able to access driveways. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Parking and Access:
During construction, no parking zones will be established as the work progresses. Please adhere to all posted signage. No parking will be prohibited within the orange zone and within a 30-meter radius on all neighboring streets and avenues.
Parking Restriction for Events:
Limited and restricted parking will also be in place for events at Kinsmen Park like Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, Canada Day on July 1 and KidzFest planned for July 18.
