Mayor
Bill Powalinsky |
Bill PowalinskyI moved to Prince Albert in 1984. PA was one of the 10 best cities in Canada to live. I’ve seen the City change and I am worried about the current situation. It’s time for change. I want to bring fresh leadership that listens to people, leading with integrity, vision and action. I want to provide leadership that facilitates initiatives to ensure safety and well-being for all residents. I plan to bring transparent, open, honest, and accountable City government. I will listen to you openly and value your opinions. We are at a crisis point in our history. My leadership will be proactive; Issues will be addressed before they get even more out of hand. I will work collaboratively with all levels of government, partners, stakeholders, community organizations, and the public sector to seek solutions to homelessness, the ever-increasing City debt, crime, lack of mental health and addictions services. I bring several decades of community development, small business and government management experience. My approach is a balanced one, recognizing that economic and social development must go hand in hand. I hold fast to the fact that our continued relationship with our Treaty partners forms a solid foundation for the present and for our future. I promise to serve you with openness, honesty, transparency, accountability, and dedication. I will continue to work diligently to build a future that honors our past and paves the way for a prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant future for our community. This is my commitment to you. Contact |
Greg Dionne |
Greg DionneMayor Greg Dionne is the 29th Mayor of the City of Prince albert and has been a resident of the City for 37 years. He has watched this City grow over that period of time, but nothing like we have in the last 2 years, and I believe in the next 4 years. I have been the Mayor for 12 years and he has made numerous connections both Federally, Provincially and with the Private Sector that has really helped our City grow. As one resident said to me at the door, ”Why would we change we are doing so much better and our future is bright!” Some of the highlights to name a few is his biggest project and his pet project the new Hospital was 12 years negotiating. The Lake Country Coop Leisure Centre was 10 years. The new OSB plant was 5 years. With all these connections the majority of our construction projects with the City have had partners and thanks to those partners we could afford some of the amenities we have today. For the Children we have a new Splash Park in every neighbourhood. At Alfred Jenkins we have the largest accessible playground in Western Canada due to our partnership with Malcolm Jenkins. Rotary Adventure Park at Little Red River which is Prince Alberts largest park. All these new facilities are free to the public to access. Mayor Greg Dionne’s goal for the next 4 years is to continue to fight Crime and work on Economic Development. Contact |
Brittany Marie Smith |
Brittany Marie SmithBrittany Marie Smith, a 3rd-generation business owner, was raised in Prince Albert, where her family established Smith Hatcheries in the 1940s. Being 39, career focused with no children, running her real estate firm, she’s not afraid to work long hours (previously 85 hours/week during peak season). With energy, grit, work ethic, and transparency, Brittany is committed to the role of mayor. Her background includes a degree in geography, city planning, and experience working for Correctional Services Canada, where she supervised offenders teaching job skills and later promoted to managing regulatory compliance across three provinces. This gave firsthand insight into crime and social issues. After her mother’s passing, Brittany returned back to her childhood house in Prince Albert to live and pursue her entrepreneurial dreams, establishing her real estate firm handling both residential and commercial. As a realtor, she works closely with bylaw, police, and fire department administration to address tenancy problems, gang-related properties, and bylaw issues, particularly in the downtown core. Her volunteer work extends to partnerships with police, bylaw, lawyers, and local community groups. Brittany’s mission is to make Prince Albert safer, cleaner, and prosperous by attracting business and improving property. Her plan includes 24-hour bylaw enforcement with cameras in high-crime areas, targeted support for landlords/tenants improving housing, partnerships with the nations to solve social problems, stronger supports with the provincial justice system, reducing crime, supporting local businesses, and revitalizing 2nd Avenue and downtown. Brittany is ready to take bold action, ensuring a safer, more vibrant community.

Dennis J. Nowoselsky |
Dennis J. NowoselskyI have lived on East Hill in Prince Albert for forty-nine years, unlike my opponent who lives in Crescent Heights. In the past I served fourteen years as Ward-7 East-hill Councillor. My children - Jay, Jon, Matthew and Allison attended Vincent Massey, King George, PACI and Carlton High School. Guiding Leadership principle for City Council: "spend taxpayer's monies wisely considering the most essential priorities first. Eg. Sewer plant upgrade versus hockey rinks eight and nine.
My Civic Platform: 1. Apply a new, effective model of community policing. 2. Establish a city beautification program. 3. Provide adequate financial assistance to the Community Service Center for Senior's transportation. 4. Hold property taxes to 2% or less. 5. Develop an off-leash dog park within the city. 6. Enhance street cleaning and snow removal. Many cities have sidewalk snow removal and this should be our future goal. 7. Get the city's extreme financial debt of 116 million reduced. 8. Establish a compost program. 9. Restore the Central Avenue inner city infrastructure (water/sewer pipes and roadway). 10. Upgrade the Waste Water/Sewer Plant. The police and citizens need to take our city back from the vandals, thieves, violent offenders, addicts and homeless. Community leaders need to show 'a can do action plan' to create a prosperous, healthy and safe Prince Albert. Citizens will no longer have to live in fear of personal harm or property damage.
