The Calls to Action call upon Canadian citizens to engage in meaningful Truth and Reconciliation initiatives to foster safe and inclusive communities.”- Officer of the Treaty Commissioner. Explore Treaty history from the perspectives of Indigenous Treaty partners The history of the numbered Treaties The culture of Indigenous partners The legacy of the Indian Act and Residential Schools Ways to achieve reconciliation. An established Educator from Poundmaker Cree Nation, Dion maintains the family reputation of perpetuating language, beliefs, values and practices through his work in the education sector, and at cultural events as a Master of Ceremonies, Story Teller and Knowledge Keeper. Tootoosis has worked for various School Boards in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He has taught classes at Mount Royal University in Calgary and has acted as guest lecturer for the Indian Teacher Education program at the U of S. Event Description

Please join Darcy for an evening of poetry. Darcy will read new and selected works from his unpublished manuscript. All poems are age appropriate for a general audience. All are welcome. Darcy Blahut has published two previous collections of lyrical verse, as well as co-produced and narrated a children’s story. Poems from his most recent manuscript have been set to music by various composers internationally. These musical collaborations aim at performance and at the publication of songbooks. Darcy has worked in public service for the past fifteen years, currently holds his third degree black belt with the International Karate Daigaku, and has enjoyed a diverse study of science and humanities, with a particular profession of poetics, rhetoric and composition.
