Transit Projects

Prince Albert City Council sets initiatives and directives for the City in the Strategic Plan for 2023-25. In this plan one of the long-term strategies of the the City of Prince Albert is to STRIVE to meet the needs of transit users. Each year the Department of Public Works applies for various grants and funding to improve Transit infrastructure, fleet, accessibility and services.

On December 20th, 2022, the City of Prince Albert was approved for $415,038 of transit funding in the "One-Time Public Transit Funding Agreement 2022-23".

Prince Albert Transit is excited for the projects in 2023. These projects include 11 new transit benches, 4 new transit shelters, new transit pads, improvements to accessibility and connectivity of pathways at transit stops. As the summer progresses, updates will be made showcasing the improvements throughout the City.

2023 Extended Weekday Transit Hours Trial

On January 23rd, 2023 Prince Albert City Council approved the allocation of $265,000 towards a Transit Extended Hours Trial. This trial was to utilize funds received in the One-Time Public Transit Funding Agreement 2022-23.

On February 13th, 2023 Prince Albert City Council approved a weekday transit extended hours trial. This trial begins on June 12th, 2023 and will run until March 31st, 2024.

Weekday Extended Hours Trial

The Weekday Extended Hours Trial was developed to provide two major benefits to City of Prince Albert Transit users.

Extending Transit Hours until 10:15pm to provide enhanced access for recreation, education, community events, and shopping.
Increasing the Rush Hour Route to a full time route. This will improve service to the East side of the City as well as increase service frequency along 28th Street East, at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and within the Cornerstone Shopping District.

Little Red Transit Route Trial

On January 23rd, 2023 Prince Albert City Council approved the allocation of $265,000 towards a Transit Extended Hours Trial. This trial was to utilize funds received in the One-Time Public Transit Funding Agreement 2022-23.
On June 12th, 2023 Prince Albert City Council approved a seasonal Little Red Route on trial basis. The route will begin on July 17th, 2023 and will run until September 9th, 2023.

Little Red Transit Trial

The Little Red Transit Route will proceed directly from the Transfer Station to Little Red River Park with one stop near the new Rotary Adventure Park and Zip Lines (South Side of Park) and one stop near Knotty Pines Bistro, Ski Hill and Hiking Trails (North Side of Park).
The Route will operate on a half-hourly basis.
