Event Description

Join us for the opening reception, including live music and catering, for the Common Weal Community Arts exhibitions "Axenet'i Tth'al" and "Wintercount and Other Freedom Songs" in the Mann Art Gallery. "Axenet'i Tth'al" is a unique installation of 36 trees, lights, and interactive audio and visual inside the Main Gallery. Visitors will walk through a space transformed into a Denesuline aesthetic experience. This is the result of a collaboration between resident artist Michele Mackasey, guest artist Manuel Chantre, and the Dene Community of Patuanak. "Wintercount and Other Freedom Songs" is by Cheryl L'Hirondelle and features music videos and music created during her artist residencies inside corrections facilities, where she ran songwriting workshops. All opening receptions are free, and we have catering and live music provided by Cheryl L"Hirondelle, who will perform songs from her residencies, and a special guest artist from IPAC, the Indigenous Peoples Artist Collective. The members of the Saskatchewan Arts Board will also be in attendance. Join us!

Event Posting Criteria

In addition to allowing residents and visitors the ability to find out what's happening in Prince Albert, this calendar is intended as a planning tool for event planners in the community. It is highly encouraged that event planners submit events as soon as dates are scheduled.

  • The calendar will be updated ONLY as events are submitted by organizers. Do not assume your event will posted because it is annual or well-known.
  • A submission form should be completed for each of the events you would like posted.
  • The City of Prince Albert will promote the purpose and intent of the calendar to ensure it is widely used and so that its intent is understood.
  • Events should be submitted as soon as scheduled; at least a month in advance is preferable. Events will be accepted a year or more in advance if they are scheduled.
  • Events should be posted on the business/organization’s website and/social media pages to ensure consistent coverage.

  • All events must be open to the general public.
  • With the exception of conferences and conventions in the business category, events held for single interest groups are not permitted.
  • Events that promote any religious organization; multi-faith or inter-faith events will be considered on an individual basis.

Events permitted on the calendar should fall into one of the following five categories:

  1. Annual/Special Events (Blue)
  2. Sport Tournaments and Events (Purple)
  3. Arts/Culture (Orange)
  4. Business Events (Gold)
  5. City Meetings and Initiatives (Green)

For more details on the categories, please see the Full Calendar of Events Posting Criteria

Events cannot include regular programming including sports or arts classes or camps, local tournaments, suppers, etc.

If you have an event that does not meet the criteria, please consider submitting it to the PaNow Community Calendar or Prince Albert District Chamber of Commerce Calendar.

For other event listings in the Community, please also see the The John M Cuelenaere Public Library.

Do you have an event calendar you would like listed on this page? Please email to request a link be added.
