Event Description

Robert Currie is a poet and fiction writer who lives in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he taught for thirty years at Central Collegiate. His books have been finalists for the (now defunct) Commonwealth Poetry Prize, the Acorn-Plantos People’s Poetry Award, the Poetry, Fiction, and Book of the Year Awards at the Saskatchewan Book Awards, and the High Plains Book Award for Poetry. A group of his poems was a winner in the 1980 CBC Literary Competition. A founding board member of the Saskatchewan Festival of Words and a former chairman of the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, Currie once edited and published Salt, a little magazine of contemporary writing. Highlights of his career include teaching creative writing at the Saskatchewan School of the Arts in Fort San and the Sage Hill Writing Experience in Lumsden, delivering the Anne Szumigalsaki Memorial Lecture for the League of Canadian poets, and serving two terms as Saskatchewan Poet Laureate. Currie is a recipient of the Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. Enjoy a relaxing evening listening to readings from this award winning Saskatchewan author! Event Posting Criteria

In addition to allowing residents and visitors the ability to find out what's happening in Prince Albert, this calendar is intended as a planning tool for event planners in the community. It is highly encouraged that event planners submit events as soon as dates are scheduled.

NOTES FOR EVENT ORGANIZERS:

  • The calendar will be updated ONLY as events are submitted by organizers. Do not assume your event will posted because it is annual or well-known.
  • A submission form should be completed for each of the events you would like posted.
  • The City of Prince Albert will promote the purpose and intent of the calendar to ensure it is widely used and so that its intent is understood.
  • Events should be submitted as soon as scheduled; at least a month in advance is preferable. Events will be accepted a year or more in advance if they are scheduled.
  • Events should be posted on the business/organization’s website and/social media pages to ensure consistent coverage.

WHAT CAN BE SUBMITTED

  • All events must be open to the general public.
  • With the exception of conferences and conventions in the business category, events held for single interest groups are not permitted.
  • Events that promote any religious organization; multi-faith or inter-faith events will be considered on an individual basis.

Events permitted on the calendar should fall into one of the following five categories:

  1. Annual/Special Events (Blue)
  2. Sport Tournaments and Events (Purple)
  3. Arts/Culture (Orange)
  4. Business Events (Gold)
  5. City Meetings and Initiatives (Green)

For more details on the categories, please see the Full Calendar of Events Posting Criteria
