City of Prince Albert Community Garden

The Community Garden is owned by the City Of Prince Albert and located North of Holy Cross School on 15 Avenue East. The purpose of the Community Garden is to provide residents the opportunity to become engaged in a healthy recreation activity while growing nutritious food, meeting neighbours, building community and beautifying open space.

 

The City Of Prince Albert provides tilling, staking, water and compost clean up and The Prince Albert Food Coalition offers assistance to gardeners by providing garden tools, supplies and equipment.

 

Below are the plot options and costs available:

Full Plot – 625 square feet (25 feet by 25 feet)

Half Plot – 312 square feet (12.5 feet by 25 feet)

Quarter Plot – 156 square plot (12.5 feet by 12.5 feet)

These garden plots are rented out on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Garden plots cannot be used for marketing purposes or for commercial production.  Garden plots are for personal use only except where produce is donated.

Important dates to remember:

April 13, 2016 – Deadline for returning gardeners to submit their signed Agreement and payment to the City of Prince Albert Community Services Department office.

May 11, 2016 – Deadline for new gardeners to submit their signed Agreement and payment to the City of Prince Albert Community Services Department office.

May 20, 2016* – Spring rototilling and plot staking will be completed by the City of Prince Albert, and water will be turned on and available.

June 8, 2016* – First planting completed. Unplanted plots will forfeit rental without reimbursement and unplanted plots will be offered to people on the waiting list.

October 11, 2016* – Garden clean-up must be completed.  All plants and weeds must be removed from the plot and left in the designated compost areas, stakes must be left beside the shed and string must be discarded in the provided garbage bins. Water will be turned off.

*Dates are subject to change depending on weather. Gardeners will be updated accordingly.
