Park Development

As the population of Prince Albert increases and our neighborhoods continue to grow, the City will be working to develop new parks and amenities. The City will also be looking at improving our existing parks to ensure they are enjoyable, accessible and safe for everyone to use.

Get involved in public consultation opportunities for the following projects by attending the scheduled  open houses.

Current Park Projects

Kinsmen Park Improvements

The City of Prince Albert is planning improvements to Kinsmen Park from 2015 to 2017. 

Based on the information received through community consultation in September 2015, Community Services staff will be displaying information and taking feedback on an overall Plan for Kinsmen Park as well as providing information and plans for what will be completed in 2016 including:

  • Playground Upgrades – help us choose new play equipment!
  • Central Garden Plaza – meeting place and area for special occasion photo opportunities
  • Washroom Renovations – the west washroom will be replaced, there will be a new washroom added on the east side of the Park, and the Ella Muzzy Paddling Pool Building washrooms will be renovated
  • Pathway Widening and Improvements
  • Drainage Improvements
  • Picnic Area Improvements
  • Animal Proof Garbage and Recycle Bins

Alfred Jenkins Field House Site Master Plan

In 2015 Project Beach presented a proposal to City Council to construct beach volleyball courts at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.  The request prompted the City to undertake master planning for the Field House site to make sure that the volleyball courts will fit with other potential park amenities and the vision for the site in the future.

West Hill Spray Park

The West Hill is getting a spray park in front of the West Hill Community Club on 6th Avenue West. Community consultation took place in June, 2015.

Construction of the Spray Park started in the summer of 2015 with an expected completion and Spray Park opening in Spring 2016.

Crescent Acres Playground

Community consultation for the new playground in Barton-Coombe Drive Park was held in June, 2015.
