Parking Meter Cards

The City of Prince Albert is pleased to be able to offer the Prince Albert METERCARD. The METERCARDs offer a cashless way to pay for parking in the downtown area.

Note: Parking meters will still accept coins.

Your first metercard comes preloaded with $20. They are reloadable in $10 increments (up to $100) and can be purchased at City Hall - 1084 Central Avenue. A one-time $5 activation fee is required for every new Metercard purchased. Once the card is empty, you can reload it to avoid paying another activation fee.

How to use your METERCARD

Adding Time to the Meter:

  1. Insert card firmly into the parking meter card slot with the chip-side facing down.
  2. The parking meter will indicate the remaining card value.
  3. The parking meter will flash and then display the maximum amount of time allowed for you to park (either the maximum time allowed on the parking meter or the amount of time left on your card, whichever is less).
  4. Remove Card.

Note: If the card does not work on the first try, please reinsert it into the parking meter slot and try again. Be sure to keep the card in the slot long enough for it to be read by the parking meter.

Recovering Remaining Time from the Meter:

  1. Insert the card firmly into the parking meter card slot with the chip-side facing down.
  2. The meter will credit unused time, rounded up to the nearest $0.25, back onto your card. Be sure to leave the card in the slot long enough for the meter to display first "0:00" or the dollar amount remaining on the card.
  3. Remove card.

Important: Always remember to reinsert your card into the meter before leaving your parking spot to ensure you credit any unused time back onto your card.
