Monuments and Flowers

Monument Permit (PDF)
  • The marking of graves with a permanent monument is completely optional, with the exception of Veterans' plots.
  • The installation of monuments is completed on a seasonal basis from approximately May 1st until October 31st.
  • A permit must be obtained from the City of Prince Albert for the erection and alteration of any Monument (see link below).
  • A request for a Monument Permit can be made at any time through a monument dealer or in person at the Community Services Department on the 3rd Floor of City Hall.
  • All permits must be paid for and approved by the City of Prince Albert prior to monument installation.  All monument installations must be performed by an experienced contractor or monument company.
  • An individual can manufacture their own monument provided they first attain a permit and that permit is approved by the Director of Community Services and provided that the monument is made to City specifications.
  • The installation of monuments will not take place until the gravesite is suitably landscaped.
  • MONUMENTS ARE PLACED IN THE CEMETERY AT THE OWNER'S RISK, AND THE CITY OF PRINCE ALBERT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS DUE TO VANDALISM.

For Veterans' monuments, please contact the Royal Canadian Legion at 306.763.7201.

  • Real cut flowers in unbreakable containers (other than glass) can be placed on the turf area of graves anytime. However, these items are considered temporary and are routinely picked up and disposed of by City staff to accommodate maintenance.
  • The City of Prince Albert assumes no responsibility for missing vases, flowers, wreaths or other items placed in the cemetery.
  • The City of Prince Albert reserves the right to plant all perennial flowers, shrubs and trees.
