Event Description

This stunning collection of poetry by gillian harding-russell describes the magical and transitory world of the north, particularly in and around Yellowknife. It is an eloquent and personal exploration of the history, the harsh darkness, and legends of the north viewed through an imaginative lens, from the failed Franklin expeditions to the Mad Trapper. These are abundant and imaginative poems about quests, migrations, northern spirits and vanished populations. gillian harding-russell is a Regina poet who has been visiting her daughter in Yellowknife for the past four years. She has three previous poetry collections and several chapbooks published. In 2015, the sequence “Proud Men do not Listen” from In Another Air was shortlisted for Exile’s Gwendolyn MacEwen Chapbook Award.
