Almost all residential, commercial- and industrial-uses will require an architect's or engineered set of stamped drawings for renovations, additions, new construction or a change in the use of the building. It is very important that you receive City approval prior to the start of your project as not all types of businesses are allowed in all areas of the City.
If you are constructing a new building, renovating an old one, adding an additional use to or upgrading an existing building and/or starting a new business, you may need one or more of the following permits before you embark on your project.
If you are planning on changing the use of a building (for example, from a retail store to a welding shop), both a building permit and a development permit will be required.
Please contact the City's Planning and Development Services Department at (306) 953-4370 and we will work with you to ensure that all aspects of your development proceed as smoothly as possible.
To ensure compliance with the City of Prince Albert's zoning bylaw and planning policies, the Planning Division may require a Development Permit to be completed and approved before a Building Permit can be applied for.
If you intend to build, move, demolish, alter or add onto a new or existing structure within the City of Prince Albert, please submit all required information as early as possible for your Building Permit to ensure the approval process for your permit can proceed in a timely manner.
For more information on the building permit process, please visit the building permits page.
All fees charged for these services can be found on the Fee Schedule page.
