The City of Prince Albert does not require that cats be licensed at this time.
Any dog that is over four months old must be licensed according to the Animal Control Bylaw (No. 17 of 2003).
The licensing year runs from January 1 to December 31
and requires dog owners to renew the license prior to its expiration.
The cost of a yearly license is $10.00 for sterilized dogs (documentation required) and $120.00 for non-sterilized dogs. Upon purchase, the owner is supplied with a current tag and a receipt for payment. The owner is responsible for ensuring that a current license tag is attached to a dog's collar whenever the dog is off the premises of the owner. If a license tag is lost or destroyed, the owner will be issued a replacement license tag at an additional cost.
Pet licenses may be purchased at the Financial Services counter on the main floor of City Hall or at the Prince Albert SPCA.
