New Transit Fleet Buses Ready to Roll in Prince Albert

Seven new 35-foot-long and fully-accessible buses will be hitting streets to serve transit riders in Prince Albert within the next few weeks. The upgraded Prince Albert Transit fleet has been supported by the federal Public Transit Infrastructure Fund which provided $614,386 of the $3.34 million cost for the new buses.

Prince Albert Transit saw a bump in transit ridership on Clean Air Day which happened Wednesday June 7, 2017. Prince Albert Transit gave 1,903 free rides to promote the use of environmentally friendly transportation.

Transit open house to be held at public library Tuesday, April 25

The City of Prince Albert is looking at changes for PA Transit. Come to the transit public open house on April 25 and help shape the future bus routes and hours of our bus system. The Transit Open house is Tuesday, April 25, 3-7 pm at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library. It’s a free drop-in event. Everyone is welcome. Food and refreshments will be served.

“Ding in the New Year” a Success – Ridership numbers doubled from previous year

The City would like to thank all residents that participated in “Ding in the New Year” by riding the free public transit that was offered on New Year’s Eve. 

A total of 417 persons took advantage of the free service – up from the 199 that utilized ‘Ding in the New Year’ in 2015.

Four people used the accessibility transportation option – a new option introduced this year.

The “Ding in the New Year “ Program is an initiative by the City of Prince Albert, SGI, SLGA and the Prince Albert Police Service. The program was started in Prince Albert in 1989 and has provided over 10,000 safe and free rides home.
