A new piece of public art is on its way in Prince Albert’s Kinsmen Park. The City of Prince Albert is working with artist Jayde Goodon on a new mural on the West side of the Kinsmen Water Park building, just off 1st Avenue West. The mural is currently in progress and is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
The mural is part of the City’s Public Art program which aims to provide a visually rich environment in Prince Albert.
"The Public Art Working Group reviewed designs from Jayde and we are really excited about the new mural for Prince Albert in Kinsmen Park,” said Judy MacLeod-Campbell, Arts and Cultural Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert. “The mural responds to the public art policy and public requests for murals. It will also serve as a backdrop for photographs in the park."
The Public Art Working Group guides the implementation of a public art plan in Prince Albert and prioritizes projects in accordance with the City’s Public Art Policy. Recent projects include temporary cross walk art, restoration of the Cuneo painting at City Hall, decommissioning of the Eaglechild totem pole on the riverbank and a complete inventory and condition assessment of Prince Albert’s existing public art.
Jayde Goodon is a Metis graffiti artist from Saskatoon. His graffiti art can be found on his Instagram @WizWon and on YouTube videos.
