New Skatepark & Basketball Courts Open with assistance from Malcolm Jenkins & Canadian Tire
Prince Albert, Sk. – The City of Prince Albert is pleased to announce the opening of two new outdoor recreation facilities, made possible with the assistance of local philanthropist Malcolm Jenkins and his business, Canadian Tire. Alfred’s Skatepark, located at the Parkland Community Club, and the Canadian Tire Basketball Courts at the Alfred Jenkins Field House, both will available for the public to use by this weekend.
Alfred’s Skatepark, which includes portable Skateboard and BMX equipment, is located within the outdoor skating rink at Parkland. The interior boards around the rink have been painted by graffiti artist Justin Enns of Warman and the surface has been paved. Since the equipment, provided by Malcolm Jenkins, is portable, it will be removed in the fall, and the facility will continue to be utilized as an ice rink during the winter months. The Skatepark is now open.
The Canadian Tire Basketball Courts will provide the city’s first outdoor 3X3 courts, located northwest of the Alfred Jenkins Field House. An opening tournament will be held on the courts this Saturday, June 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., then they will be open for drop-in. The courts will be available for booking by calling the Alfred Jenkins Field House at 306-953-4989 and programming will be developed soon.
There will be Grand Opening Celebrations for both facilities in June.
