Prince Albert, Sk. – Sporting events are a major economic driver and the City of Prince Albert has added to its arsenal of tools to attract major events to Prince Albert with the release of a new sports video. The promotional video features the diverse recreational facilities available in Prince Albert as well as some of the major sports events hosted in city in recent years. It will be used by City staff to promote Prince Albert to Sports Organizations who are looking for host locations for major events.
“There were many great events in 2018 and early 2019, from World Softball to Canadian Junior Curling Championships and others, in City of Prince Albert facilities and we thought this would be a good time to promote what we have and show the hosting abilities of our city”, said Jody Boulet, Director of Community Services. “We want the people of Prince Albert to be proud of the events that have been hosted here, and also get the word out across Canada our city has the infrastructure and volunteer resources to execute major events. This video will be updated periodically to include other events as they occur.”
This video will be showcased by City representatives at the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) Congress March 19-21 in Ottawa, an event attended by many National Sports organizations. At this event the 2018 WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championships, hosted in Prince Albert, and featured in the video, is a finalist for a CSTA PRESTIGE Award for Canadian Sport Event of the Year.
The video is available on the City of Prince Albert’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZH9GcThuDM as well as on www.citypa.ca Things to Do>Sports & Recreation and Things to Do>Facilities.
