National Drowning Prevention Week July 16th to 20st at Kinsmen Water Park

Prince Albert, Sk. – National Drowning Prevention Week in Canada is July 15-21 and the staff at Kinsmen Water Park have a full slate of activities planned in collaboration with the Lifesaving Society of Saskatchewan from Monday, July 16th to Friday, July 20th. These activites are themed around drowning prevention and water safety.

    A new feature this year is Swim to Survive Day on Monday, July 16th at 3:00 PM, where patrons and local “Prince Albert celebrities” are invited to try the Swim to Survive Challenge, a nationally recognized measure of safety and competency in and around the water. Other events include “Dress like a Lifeguard” activity, facepainting and colouring and daily events to promote water safety in a fun and informative manner.

Theme Day Schedule

Monday, July 16                    Swim to Survive Day

-        Come to the Water Park to watch local “PA celebrities” try the Swim to Survive Challenge at 3:00 PM!

-        Lifeguards will be running the Swim to Survive Challenge for members of the public all day

Tuesday, July 17                    Swim with a Buddy Day

-        Prizes available if you are swimming with a buddy!

-        Lifeguard-themed activities in the Main Pool all day!

Wednesday, July 18              Open Water Safety

-        Featuring Prince Albert Fire Department: 3:00-4:00 pm

-        Mock Spinal Demonstration with Parkland Ambulance at 4:00pm

-        PFD & Lifejack Fitting

Thursday, July 19                    Sun Smart Education

-        Featuring Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and Canadian Cancer Society representatives

-        UV Skin Damage Camera

Friday, July 20                         Parent Lifeguard Day

-        Come to the Water Park to take a Parent Lifeguarding Course!
