City Manager Jim Toye is pleased to announce that Cheryl Tkachuk has been appointed as the City of Prince Albert’s new Director of Financial Services. Ms.Tkachuk has served as the City’s Assistant Director of Finance for a little over a year. She came to the City following a 16 year career at the Co-operative Health Centre in Prince Albert where she was the Manager of Accounting. Ms. Tkachuk is a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) and holds a designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
“Cheryl has demonstrated a sound understanding of municipal government accounting and the nuances of leading a corporate finance department,” said City Manager Jim Toye. “Cheryl is dedicated to moving the department forward with a focus on improving services. I am very proud to announce her as our new Director of Financial Services.”
“This is an exciting opportunity. The Financial Services Department serves an important function in the City’s operations and with some process improvements I believe we can enhance our services to both the City’s employees and residents of Prince Albert,” said Tkachuk. “I am very much looking forward to working closely with the staff in the department to implement these improvements.”
The Financial Services Department includes the City’s purchasing division, payroll, water and sewer utility, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, assessment and taxation and parking services.
