Fire Ban for Little Red River Park and Properties North of the River – Including Hazeldell and Nordale Residential Areas

By Communications on 5/7/2018

Due to the Fire Weather Index current and predicted ‘Extreme’ conditions rating for the grasslands and forest fringe area , a fire ban has been declared for areas north of the North Saskatchewan River within the boundaries of the City of Prince Albert including Little Red River Park and the Hazeldell and Nordale residential areas.

For the duration of the ban, no open fires are permitted.  Fireworks are also prohibited.  For cooking and heating purposes, the following items are permitted:

  • Self-contained heating devices
  • Gas barbecues
  • Propane fire pits
  • Charcoal briquettes used in park-provided barbecues and fire pits

Recreational use of approved fire pits within the City – south of the river – (such as cooking fires in designated receptacles in Kinsmen Park) are not affected by this ban at this time.

This ban will remain in effect as long as extreme risk conditions remain.
