Fire Department to Conduct Controlled Burn Through out the City and at Little Red River Park this Week

Prince Albert, SK. - The Prince Albert Fire Department would like to advise the public that controlled burns will be taking place at various locations throughout the City and in Little Red River Park this week.

Locations throughout the City

Starting today, burns at various locations in the City will occur between 10am – 5:00pm and in some cases from 6:30pm-9:00pm in the evenings.

Little Red River Park

Burns will occur on the upper plains at Little Red River Park on Tuesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 2 from  approximately 10am to 4:30 pm each day. Little Red River Park will be closed to visitors 7:00am – 4:30pm each of these days.

This schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions. The public should not be alarmed if they see smoke in the area during this timeframe.

Controlled burns are used as a way to mitigate grass fires by clearing out high hazard areas. The areas targeted are identified on a priority basis annually.
